NATIONAL WEBINAR ON FARMERS’ BILL, 2020

On 22nd October, 2020 a National Webinar on ‘Farmers’ Bill 2020: One nation One market-Understanding the implications’ was organized in OUR college. Prof. (Dr.) Nirmala Kumari, Principal of Vaikunta Baliga College of Law, Udupi welcomed the guest and the gathering.

Sri. Dinesh Kumar Jain, Member, Lokpal of New Delhi inaugurated the program. In his inaugural address he said that Farmer’s Bill helps the famers to get better remuneration and also necessary changes in this regard will help the agricultural market.

Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Ramesh, Professor of National Law School of India University, Bengaluru , delivered the key note address on ‘From Agriculturist to Agripreneur – An Evaluation of New legislative efforts”. By explaining about the background of the Bill, sir stated – Bonded Labor was rampant and nothing could be saved by the farmers. He referred Swaminathan Committee Report and Dalwai Committee Report on doubling farmer’s income and said that State intervention is essential to end this iniquitous market condition. State should explore the scope and space for ensuring ‘just price’ both within the State run market and the open market. Sir also mentioned about promoting organic farming.

Sri. Ved Arya, Founder of Buddha Fellowship Program, addressed on the topic, ‘Increasing Farmer’s Income through Value Addition and Entrepreneurship. Sir spoke about the necessity to increase the income level of the farmers. At present what they are getting is only a meager income.
