Student Empowerment Program on Capital Market

On 27th May 2021, Students empowerment program on Capital market to provide was organised by the college in association with Lotus Knowlwealth , Mumbai. The resource person for the session was Sri. Venugopal Rayirath, senior associate, Lotus Knowlwealth Private Limited, Mumbai on the topicCapital Market Awareness on behalf of Bombay Stock Exchange.


Lotus Knowlwealth Private Limited is a Non-govt company, incorporated on 25 Apr, 2006. It’s a private unlisted company and is classified ascompany limited by shares.LKW is majorly in Finance business from last 15 years . Company is registered in Mumbai (Maharashtra) Registrar Office.

Venugopal sir is a seasoned professional with over 3 and half decades of Finance related work experience, he has held several responsible posts in both, national and international companies. He was primarily responsible for key management functions pertaining to the Balance Sheet and also conducted in-house Training Programs. His sound understanding of Balance Sheets is the backbone of his selection of companies to invest in. He has conducted several Investor Programs in the southern states of India for around half a decade now.

Sir introduced the session by explaining Mutual Funds. Mutual Fund is a trust that pools the savings of a number of investors who share a common financial goal. The money thus collected is then invested in capital market instruments such as shares, debentures and other securities. The income earned through these investments and the capital appreciation realised are shared by its unit holders in proportion to the number of units owned by them. Thus, a Mutual Fund is one of the most suitable investments for the common man as it offers an opportunity to invest in a diversified, professionally managed basket of securities at a relatively low cost. It is an ideal tool for people who want to invest but don’t want to be bothered with deciphering the numbers and deciding whether the stock is a good buy or not.

Further he highlighted various types of mutual fund schemes such as investment, collection, options, other scheme plans. In investment scheme it includes equity, debt or money market, hybrid, gold, international funds. Collection scheme classified into two categories they are open ended and close ended. Options have three different types are growth, dividend and dividend review.

Sirthen explained the rights of investors like, to get unique client code allotted,to get a copy of KYC and other documents executed, to get trades executed in only his/her UCC, place order on meeting the norms agreed to with the member,get best price, contract note for trades executed, details of charges levied etc.,

He gave a brief description of Bombay Stock Exchange. The most popular website of capital market is BSE website i.e. http://www.bseindia.com. This site provides information ranging from trade information, Corp information, real time corporate announcements, BSE plus etc., Trade verification facility are available for the investors through this website.

He summarised the session by covering the importance of capital market. Capital market is a central coordinating and directing mechanism for free and balanced flow of financial resources into the economic system operating in a country. It is an organised market mechanism for effective and efficient transfer of money capital or financial resources from the investing classes to the entrepreneur classes in the private or public sectors of our economy. The program was handled by Miss Unnimaya, Miss Dhrishya Sadhanand welcomed the guest and the gathering and Miss Smriti Suresh proposed vote of thanks.
